Postdoctoral Forensic Psychology Fellow

Dr. Sargent has been practicing as a licensed psychologist in Wisconsin since 2024. She currently conducts forensic mental health evaluations through Behavioral Consultants Inc. and the Wisconsin Forensic Unit. Dr. Sargent has routinely qualified as an expert witness and provided testimony in Wisconsin court systems. She has experience conducting the following types of evaluations:

• Competency to stand trial (adult and juvenile courts)

• Not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect/criminal responsibility

• Conditional release

• Violence risk

• Parenting capacity

• Sentencing/dispositional

• General psychological/diagnostic

Dr. Sargent has been employed or training in the mental health field since 2012. She has worked in case management, individual/group/family therapies, mental health research, psychological testing/diagnosis, and forensic evaluation. Her educational accomplishments include the following:

• University of Wisconsin - Madison, B.A. in Psychology (2015)

• Loyola University Chicago, M.A. in Clinical Psychology (2020)

• Loyola University Chicago, Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (2023)

During graduate training, Dr. Sargent specialized in child/adolescent mental health and researched the impact of trauma on justice-involved adolescents. Dr. Sargent completed a variety of graduate-level clinical training rotations with experience in college counseling, neuropsychological assessment, individual and family therapy, juvenile probation, and forensic assessment in juvenile and child protection courts. She completed a forensic, predoctoral internship in Bakersfield, California, working primarily with an adult conditional release program and juveniles in a detention facility. Dr. Sargent completed specialized training in forensic assessment through her postdoctoral fellowship with Behavioral Consultants Inc. & the Wisconsin Forensic Unit prior to her licensure in 2024.
