Sergio Sanchez, Psy.D.

Dr. Sanchez earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004.  Prior to his graduate studies, he worked as a bilingual (Spanish) probation and parole agent.  He then attended the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology where he earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2015 and a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2020.  During his graduate studies, Dr. Sanchez obtained clinical training in a variety of settings including a medium-security state correctional facility, a residential facility for individuals committed via Chapter 51, and at a private mental health outpatient clinic.  He also conducted group therapy for individuals diagnosed with substance abuse disorders and individuals with severe and persistent mental health illnesses at a residential facility and a community-based center.  Dr. Sanchez completed a Pre-doctoral Internship at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections where he co-facilitated sex offender treatment; conducted therapy with individuals with a variety of diagnoses including mood, personality, and cognitive disorders; conducted sex offender risk evaluations; conducted court ordered mental health assessments; and conducted psychological assessments for commitment under Wisconsin’s Sexually Violent Persons Law (s. 980).

Dr. Sanchez received advanced training in Competency to Proceed to Trial evaluations with the Wisconsin Forensic Unit.  He became a licensed psychologist in 2021.  Dr. Sanchez currently performs examinations for Competency to Proceed to Trial.
